Swiss Belhotel GM Conference – Hoi An, Vietnam 21-25 November

The annual Swiss Belhotel International General Managers Conference was held at the Swiss Belhotel Golden Sands Resort in Hoi An Vietnam from 21st – 25th November. L&A are the Corporate Housekeepers for SBI hotels around the world.

With over 70 GMs, corporate office team members and presenters attending, Liz launched the new Housekeeping quality rating system specifically designed for Swiss Belhotel International. This newly refined measurement tool assists GMs in checking, measuring and rating the quality of their Housekeeping operations. As Swiss Belhotel International is growing so fast –now over 50 hotels throughout the globe and many more in the pipeline, Liz also took the opportunity to meet up with some of the new GM’s and key players from the various global corporate offices.

L&A continues its Corporate Housekeeping Service for Swiss-Belhotel International’s 40 properties in the Asia Pacific region and the Middle East.  L&A associate, Agnes Zlotek Petit was invited to present her current findings to the 60 General Managers’, VPs and corporate teams at this month’s conference in Jakarta.

As part of the L&A brief, an associate visits each of the Swiss-Belhotel International hotels twice a year.  Agnes, who is covering all the Indonesian properties, has reviewed 13 hotels and resorts and Liz Lycette has visited the Vietnam and Middle Eastern properties.

During her presentation, Agnes explained what was covered during the 3 day initial visit emphasising the importance of ensuring SBI policies and procedures are in place and being followed, including manuals. She also conducted efficiency reviews to look at cost control and cost savings including labour costs and housekeeping scheduling.  Back to basics in terms of correct training practices was also top of the agenda. Agnes and Liz have coached and mentored the Housekeeping teams in developing best practices and performance measurement tools for the future.

Both Liz and Agnes were impressed with the quick response from all the Swiss-Belhotel International Housekeeping teams to resolve issues quickly and professionally. The Housekeepers were always friendly and eager to learn more. Overall a great performance with sometimes limited resources.

Swiss-Belhotel International was founded in 1987. Today, Swiss-Belhotel International with hotels in Asia/Pacific and the Middle East has evolved into a leading hotel management company with 32 hotels and another 25 hotels slated to open in the next 18 months.

Corporate Housekeeping goes to Hoi An

Laundry - Golden Sands Resort & Spa

Lycette & Associates continues its corporate housekeeping service for Swiss-Belhotel International with about one hotel per month coming under the loupe. Each hotel is unique with varying standards and with this program the hotel’s housekeeping service will all be brought into one line. While Agnes is mainly looking after all of the Indonesian hotels, Liz mainly travels to the Middle East and other parts of Asia.  In September it was the Swiss- Belhotel Golden Sands Resort’s turn. The hotel is situated in Hoi An near Danang in Central Vietnam.

The Hotel is 5 years old and has 212 rooms in operation. The restaurants a include Coffee Shop and Vietnamese Restaurant. There is also a ballroom, a gym, spa and swimming pool area with extensive gardens. The hotel mainly caters to tourists.

The Hotel was closed for 4 months late 2009 and early 2010 due to damage from a typhoon.  The new Executive Housekeeper Yen and her team have a busy time ahead, being right on the sea, where there are always maintenance issues to contend with, as well as lots of TLC to keep  the very large beautiful tropical gardens in order.

There is a new laundry being commissioned and relocation of some of the offices. The enthusiastic and hard working housekeeping team is working towards greater quality in housekeeping services and best practices.

L&A signs contract to provides corporate housekeeping services

Lycette & Associates recently signed a contract to provide Swissbel – Hotel International with corporate housekeeping services to 40+ hotels in Asia and the Middle East.

Agnes Zlotek Petit will conduct the “Housekeeping Business Development and Systems Reviews” at the 20 hotels in Indonesia. Agnes has already completed her 3-day review at Ciputra Gold Club and at Swiss-Belhotel Surabaya. Liz Lycette has already evaluated the operations at Swiss-Belhotel Plaza Kuwait City and Swiss-Belhotel Doha in Qatar. Next in line for a Housekeeping Development and Systems Review are 4 properties in China, Swiss-Belhotel Changhun, Swiss-Belhotel Lotus Lake Wuhan, Swiss-Belhotel Hualun and the Swiss-Belhotel Hefei will receive pre and post opening assistance.

Ongoing assistance at The York by Swiss-belhotel

L&A continues to assist The York by Swiss-belhotel with ongoing mentoring and coaching of the newly promoted Housekeeper, reviewing and streamlining rooms operations with management and supervisory skills training for the whole Housekeeping team

York by Swissbel hotel assignment – early 2009

The York by Swiss-Belhotel is located in the heart of the CBD offering a combination of 120 recently refurbished fully air conditioned Studio 1 and 2 Bedroom Apartments.
Each apartment offers a spacious living area, fully equipped kitchen, 1 or 2 bathrooms, laundry facilities and the luxury of 1 or 2 terrace balconies. Most apartments have views that extend to the City SkyLine, and the Executive and Premiere Apartments overlook Sydney Harbour Foreshore*.
L&A have been helping with ongoing Housekeeping operational reviews, room standards and setups, quality control and manning. Ariane and Debi also conducted a workshop – “the Perfect Business Professional” – all staff going through an interactive learning experience on business etiquette, professional grooming including hair, makeup and dress sense.
