Duop Mop system in use at Jumeirah Carlton Towers London

While Liz was in London recently she caught up with Anne Britton at the Jumeirah Carlton Towers, Anne showed the last cleaning technology – the Duop cleaning system.

Its a very clever mop/ hand tool designed by  Worksafe Technology in the UK, a company established to eliminate the causes of frequent and recurring workplace injuries. By combining their expertise in product design, development and technology, their aim is to take a fresh look at common accidents and injuries in the workplace.

Their approach is to develop faster, more efficient, and safer ways to accomplish manual tasks by designing intuitive tools and practices which will be readily adopted by users. The focus is to develop simple products with a clear business case and measurable benefits for employers. These translate into lower insurance rates, fewer lost work days and reduced reputational risk.

They are currently developing products to eliminate injury in three areas:

• Overexertion and repetitive motion among hotel chambermaids, nursing home care-workers, and nurses and orderlies in hospitals.
• Slips and falls in restaurant kitchens.
• The myriad of strain and injuries that result from too much sitting in offices.

The Duop System™

The Duop is a new kind of mop that uses a unique ball-and-socket mechanism to make cleaning work easier and quicker. The Duop consists of a telescopic handle, removable head connected via a ball- and-socket mechanism and a removable cloth.

The name Duop comes from “dual-mop” as the head of the product can be removed and used by hand providing ergonomic, hygiene and cleaning benefits.
