Not All Hard Work – Some Fun at the Amazing Jeepney Race in Manila

It’s not only all about hard work when Liz is on assignment in various countries. While she was in Manila recently working at the Peninsula Hotel, the management team invited her out for some fun!

Liz joined the Peninsula Hotel management team in the “Great Jeepney Race of Manila”. The race was run along the lines of the TV Show  “The Amazing Race” The Pen team of 9 hardy souls battled the local heat in their air-conditioned jeepney. They raced all over Manila to follow a series of clues and answer questions. There was lots of hard running in tropical heat and brains had to be engaged to figure out each clue. The race ended up at the New Zealand ambassador’s home for a barbecue. The team enjoyed delicious BBQ food and ended up drowning their sorrows and dented prides. Oh dear – they came second to last! Never mind maybe next year!
